GO TITANS!!

26 Aug

Hello Everyone! This past Friday I got to go to the Titans vs. Falcons preseason game in ATL with some friends. Here is a recap of my night:

(I guess I should mention in case some did’nt know- my roommates dad is the head coach for the Tennessee Titans)

Friday:

5:30 p.m-  arrive at the GA dome- where a state trooper meets us at the gate and walks us to the locker room. We then meet “Trooper” who is Coach Fishers “bodyguard/trooper” that walks around with him, and is in charge of us for the night. Tara’s dad then comes out of the locker room and talks to us before the game.

6:00 p.m.- We get to watch the team warm-up and the Titans photographer takes pictures of us with some of the players.

6:30 p.m.- We are escorted to our seats which are right behind the Titans benches.

After the game- we get to walk off the field with the players… I must say this was a very surreal moment.  We looked super important with a police escort walking us across the field while all the fans were watching (at least it felt like all the fans were watching :) ) We then sat outside the locker room and watched Tara’s dad and Vince Young do a press conference.

“Trooper” then walked us back to our car in the parking deck where we then got to stay in a Suite at the Hilton.

The whole night was so much fun! Tara’s dad was so excited we were there and made sure we were taken care of the whole time! Here are some pictures…

All of us with John Vaughn- he use to be the kicker for Auburn

Remembering Skip

4 Aug

As I’m sure many of you have heard, the great Braves broadcaster Skip Caray passed away yesterday. He’ll be missed by all those who knew him and listened to him broadcast. I had the pleasure of working with him a few times while I was with Braves Radio and it was always an adventure.

During my time at Braves Radio, I acquired a few outtakes. Here are my favorites…

Skip was known for his uncanny ability to know where fans were from…

Several weeks later, Skip’s producer reminded him of that last intro just before they went on air with this one, and Skip loses it again…

Anyone seen the Heisman?

1 Aug

So I had a rather interesting day at work yesterday.  I backed up to the athletic complex around 9am and proceeded to put a few trophys in my car.  Not just any trophys, though.  2 Heismans, the National Championship trophy from 1957, and the 2004 SEC Championship trophy.  My car’s never been worth so much.

After fighting off the urge to drive straight to an eBay dealer, I took the trophys to the lockerroom at the stadium.  We spent the better part of the day with them, shooting various shots we need for one of the football intro videos.

Quote of the day?  “Don’t tell anyone I accidentally spit on a Heisman.”

To the fam:  I love y’all…sorry I’m not going to be in Newnan this weekend!  Don’t have too much fun without me.
