Why "half"?

29 Apr

As I stated in my last post, I thoroughly enjoyed running the half-marathon last weekend. I enjoyed training for it and everything. However, now’s the time that I would like to express my biggest gripe. Do they have to call it a HALF marathon? Why can’t it have it’s own name? How about calling it a 21K or a Triptothon (my personal favorite). At least then I would feel like I’d really accomplished something. As it stands, having run a half-marathon, I feel as though I have only completed 50% of something.

So, and I realize this may be a bit rash, but I’ve decided that within 18 months from today, I will attempt a full-marathon. That’s right, the whole thing. 26.2 miles. Who’s with me?

You’re gonna have to come up with a better reason for me. I’m talking about a realllllllly good reason, and right now I can’t think of one. I loved doing the half and hope to get another on the schedule to keep me going. However, I am so proud of you for having that goal (even if the motive is somewhat questionable:) Go for it!!!

If my dad can do a full marathon in his mid-forties, you can do it in your twenties. Maybe we could all run the London Marathon. Just a thought…

Hey Katy! Now that’s an idea! Is half an option? What is the date?
