I'm getting old.
1 Apr
I’ve known for a while now that I’m getting old. It’s pretty obvious, really…I mean, I’ve already graduated college, I began a career, and I’m about to hit my quarterlife. But in the past few days, a few things have happened to me that will signify a ‘defining moment’ in my life. We all have those, right? Well I’m having one as we speak.
- I bought a Coffee Maker. No, not just an overpriced latte at Starbucks, but an actual coffee maker. And then I had to buy coffee. And creamer. I actually bought creamer. Life changing.
- I can’t wear blue jeans without someone asking me if it’s “Casual Day”.
- Against all odds, I’m actually on a budget, and I’m following it.
- Those three things, taken individually, really don’t mean much. Here’s the kicker. At the birthday party Sunday, Joy pointed out that it was time for me to shave my nose. Shave my nose! Not the hair growing out of my nose, which we all know I get from Dad, but the hair on top of my nose. Wow.
So, despite the best efforts of the girl at the party who tried to make me feel more young by turning me into a dolphin with her magic wand, I know I’m old. You may think this is rash, but I’m not one to sit idle while a defining moment like this passes me by.
Effective yesterday, I quit my job in Auburn. The season’s over, and they won’t need me for several months. I purchased a small sailboat with my tax refund, and SailingBo will sail again. I’ve updated my old site, http://www.sailingbo.com, and you can read all about my upcoming adventure there. I know it’s kind of weird for me to be telling you this on the blog, but that’s what it’s for, right?
Love y’all!

Sounds fun! Can I Dad & I join you?! I’ve been waiting for someone to pull a good April Fools!
So, I guess our trip to Ireland is off. Or will you be meeting us by boat?
Bo!! You are a nut! I wish you the best of luck! I’ll email often and keep you laughing. Be careful! Much love–LEIGH
Bo, sounds great to me, send emails so we can keep up with you… Do all the fun things before you do get old…Jackie
