So, apparently I’m not the only one subject to make bad decisions at gas stations. Word has it that mom just went into a gas station hoping for a nice bag of popcorn, and somehow wound up with Cheetos. She got to the car, called Anna, and confessed that she had just had a “Bo Moment”. Sorry Mom, but thanks for making me feel a little bit better about myself!

As I stated in my last post, I thoroughly enjoyed running the half-marathon last weekend. I enjoyed training for it and everything. However, now’s the time that I would like to express my biggest gripe. Do they have to call it a HALF marathon? Why can’t it have it’s own name? How about calling it a 21K or a Triptothon (my personal favorite). At least then I would feel like I’d really accomplished something. As it stands, having run a half-marathon, I feel as though I have only completed 50% of something.
So, and I realize this may be a bit rash, but I’ve decided that within 18 months from today, I will attempt a full-marathon. That’s right, the whole thing. 26.2 miles. Who’s with me?

First of all, I want to say that I had an absolute blast running the Music City Half-Marathon. I mean…as much of a blast as one can have whilst running 13.1 miles. I’m extremely proud of our whole group…nobody even stopped to walk! What follows is a mile-by-mile account of my very first road race. I apologize if this post gets a bit lengthy. Put on a pot of coffee and be glad you aren’t watching this.
After 15 weeks and a couple hundred miles of training, we finally awoke at 5 am on race day to the sound of pouring rain outside our window. Rain was one of several things I failed to train for. The Courtyard Marriott was very accommodating and supplied everyone with supersized garbage bags. After fashioning them into sad attempts at ponchos, we made the half-mile rainy walk from the hotel to the starting line.

We all made it! Prelim results are as follows:
We’re all getting ready and about to hobble down to Schlotzky’s and grab a sammie. Details/pictures later.
Thanks for y’all’s support!

As I sit here typing this the rest of my family is running 13 miles! I am so proud of them! Last night one of my friends asked me if I was jealous that I was not there with them, Yes I am jealous that I am not there with them BUT NO I am not jealous that they had to get up and run 13 miles this morning. It is almost 11:00 and I have not received a phone call yet from any hospital in the Nashville area, that is a good sign! Today Moe, some and my friends, and I are heading to the lake. I am real excited and I know that Moe is! He is just not used to living the college life. He has woke me up at 6:00 every morning!!!!!!! I told Dad this and Dad said “WOW He is sleeping late!” He just seems a little depressed here. I think that at the Lake he will be at his 2nd home so he will be a little more used to his surroundings than here. Well, I am off to pack… for me and Moe.

After months of training (or attempting to), the eve of the Music City Half-Marathon is upon us. 4 Cordles and a Hayes converged in Nashville around 4:30 today to get our race numbers and try out some nasty free samples at the runner’s expo. (Tip: never, under any circumstances consume “all natural” Smuckers peanut butter, and then follow it up with “Accelerade”.) Anna was kind enough to take Moe for the weekend…I think they went to sisterhood or something.
Goob and I stayed in Newnan last night and spent some time with the Tarpleys. John Hayden and Mary Joy are so flippin adorable it’s crazy. Goob’s kinda upset because John Hayden likes me more. Ha.
After a quick stop by Chick-Fil-A (we have to carbo-load, right?), Target and Old Navy to pick up Goob’s friend Bailey that’s running with us, we had a relatively uneventful trip up to Nashville. We did do a bit of a marathon-esque 26 mile detour to try and find a Schlotzsky’s for lunch. Wanda, my Garmin, led us a bit astray, and Zaxby’s had to suffice.
We rode by LP Field on the way in to town to check out the finish line, then went on and got our race numbers.
The race folks have a pretty good system, and it didn’t take more than 10 minutes for all of us to get what we needed. I even managed to find something to take care of my problem. After we got our goods we stuck around and scoped out our competition. I’m much more confident now that I won’t be the last person across the finish line. But I’ve said it before…as long as I finish by noon Sunday, I’ll consider my first race a success. I mean, who cares…they’ve already given me my t-shirt.
Before checking into the hotel, we took a quick stroll down Broadway and saw several honky-tonks. Even got our picture with Alan Jackson & The King. I’ll be sure and post them when we get back. We also got to hear a little bit of an all-girl band who’d opened up for Rascal Flats.
In our quest to find a good pre-race meal, we ended up at the only place in Nashville that doesn’t serve any form of pasta. I would have thought for sure that the big-haired lady could have come up with some form of pasta dish, but I guess not. Eggrolls, anyone?
Anyway, I think everybody’s good to go. Our running shoes are all lined up, and we’re just waiting on that 5 am wakeup call. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you a good report tomorrow. Wish us luck! Oh, and Anna…please don’t ignore any phone calls tomorrow morning…we all put you down as our emergency contact. Love you!

Last night we had our Senior Night in Zeta. (In Zeta you are considered Alumni after you have completed 8 full semesters as an active member.) Senior Night is where all of the sisters get together and tell stories about the seniors as kinda a Goodbye. WOW! How time flies! I was thinking about the past four years, it is just crazy! All of my memories seem like it happened just the other day. Here is a picture of me, Janele, and Cumba in front of the banner that the sisters made for the seniors.

After writing a paper on Time Management you would think I have learned a few things, but tonight I just can’t seem to get myself to study. I can take one night off- right? Anyways. I thought I would catch everyone up on my life. This past weekend my friends Bailey, Caitlin, Blakley, Ramsey, and I went to Tuscaloosa. I know you are wondering why Tuscaloosa? Well. Blakey’s friend from home was playing Tyler Horne(an old friend) team in baseball so I figured it was a good time to go. I hadn’t had a chance to watch Tyler play since he has been at school and it was a lot of fun.
Tuscaloosa is defiantly a different place than Auburn, and it made me realize how much I really love Auburn! It’s still crazy to me that I am in college, not only am I in college I am about to finish my Freshmen year. I remember thinking how old Bo and Anna were when they went to college, and how I couldn’t wait to be that grown up. I only have one more week of classes then Finals and I am done with my Freshmen year of college. Wow this year really has flown by!! Sitting here reflecting on my past year it is clear that I have learned so much ! God has taught me so much about myself and I am so thankful for everything and everyone he has put in my life this year.
Today. Bailey and I talked with our boss for the Summer. I really am living at the beach this Summer!!! Ahh! I am so excited, yet so scared at the same time! I think this Summer is going to help me realize that I do have to grow up and start being independent. I’m not going to be able to drive to Newnan when I desperately need mom and dad or need to just do laundry. Nor am I going to be able to call Bo and drive two minutes to his apartment just to get away for a little bit.
Well enough venting. I am going to try to get a good two hours of studying in before i go to bed. Love you all!!
oh yeah. The HALF-MARATHON is this weekend!! Please start praying for us!!
