Thanks Joan.

It’s been a busy few days. I went to Birmingham on Friday for Rooks’s wedding rehersal/dinner. I got to see several of his friends that I’d met before and meet several new ones. They’re all pretty good people, and I had a great time. It was a really pretty outdoor ceremony right after sunset on top of a mountain in Birmingham. I was really glad I could be a part of it. At first I questioned the brown tux choice, but it looked a lot better than I had envisioned.

After the reception last night, I ended up packing up and heading back to Auburn so I could get a little sleep before having to work the Auburn women’s basketball game today. After the game, I watched 4 episodes of LOST (I’ll discuss this another time) and then ran 8.39 Miles. That’s right. I upped the ante a bit from last Sunday. 8.39. It felt really good. My left calf has seized up though, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to walk tomorrow. Oh, and that reminds me…I fell. Let me back up.

After the game, and somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd episode of LOST, I met a few friends at Santa Fe (one of my favorite restaurants in Auburn) for dinner. At one point they were discussing the last time they had fallen in a public place. Both of their falls had happened within the last few months. I didn’t pipe up, but I thought to myself “I don’t think I’ve fallen since the time I broke my arm in middle school”. And even that really shouldn’t count, because I was on roller blades, and it was during the “guys only” skate…so of course I had to try and show off.

Anyway, tonight I was 5.4 miles in and got careless with my footwork. Only half of my left foot caught the edge of the sidewalk, and I went tumbling to the ground. I hobbled around for a bit hoping that I wasn’t really hurt, and was soon able to jog full speed again. I think it’s alright, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a bit swollen tomorrow. Don’t worry Radar, I’ll ice it.

That’s Joan Benoit-Samuelson. She congratulated me on my iPod after I finished running. Apparently she used to be a big shot long distance runner in the 80’s. I guess I just wasn’t into that type thing in preschool.

8.39 miles…That’s great! Sorry to hear about the fall. How are your injuries? Mine have just about healed from my fall several weeks ago. I quess we need to be a little more careful!

No real injuries to speak of, thankfully. My ankle was a bit sore this morning, but nothing like your bloody knee and hands!
